Evon Sworesho was born in Iraq and currently lives in Canada. He obtained his Master’s degree from McMaster University at the Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition. His research interests are forced displacement, Middle Eastern minority rights, and security studies.
Pope Francis’ visit to Iraq was the first of its kind in papal history. The remaining Christians in Iraq long anticipated his visit, including to an Assyrian city just 23 miles (37 kilometers) east of Mosul.
