A substantial uptick in anti-Semitic rhetoric and attacks has occurred from Los Angeles to New York, and abroad in London and elsewhere.

Today we’re covering three scintillating pieces from Providence this week, one on the Israel and Hamas conflict, another on a new book about the Iraq War, and thirdly, one by yours truly on the New Whiggery.

That these pundits denounced a small democratic country for employing targeted air strikes to defend its citizens… was bad enough. That they did so while pretending to be neutral—and even, God forbid, Christ-like—was appalling.

A Palestinian Christian educator, Khalil Sakakini (1887 – 1953) advocated for Arab nationalism and secularism in Palestine, even though his fellow Palestinians harassed him for his faith.

There is a need to scrutinize and criticize the new nation-state law, but it is unfortunate that several aspects of the Latin Patriarchate’s statement are simply unproductive and even inflammatory.
