Providence is looking for an editorial/research intern to assist Managing Editor James Diddams with posting 5 articles/week in addition to performing research (bibliographical searches, fact checking, topical research, etc) for Executive Editor Dr. Marc LiVecche on just war and related topics. Other duties might include assistance on projects, publications, etc. Applicants should have exceptional written communication skills and interest in exploring philosophical and historical questions related to Christian ethics. This a paid internship (up to 30 hours/week) on-site at the Washington, DC offices of the Institute on Religion and Democracy, the publisher of Providence.

Responsibilities:

  • Proofread, categorize, tag and post five articles/week via WordPress.
  • Create and edit writer profiles for Providence contributors.
  • Maintain writer payment database.
  • Write weekly newsletter with most recent five articles plus two “highlight” articles worth revisiting.
  • Analyze texts sent by Dr. LiVecche for specific references to his areas of research.
  • Assist with general office work on behalf of the Institute on Religion and Democracy such as folding and mailing donor letters and setting-up/taking-down events.
  • Utilize Google Analytics to research the performance of different articles, authors and topics.

Depending on the number of hours worked, interns will likely also be asked to contribute to the IRD’s blog, Juicy Ecumenism, and will have the opportunity to write for Providence if desired.

Qualifications
