Nicholas Dujmovic is 27 year CIA veteran who now directs intelligence studies at Catholic University in Washington, DC. He’s a deacon in the Orthodox Church in America.

In my interview, Dujmovic discusses how Christian faith can integrate with espionage even though requiring deception. He also shares how Eastern Orthodoxy traditionally examines God’s purposes for government. And he reflects on what July 4 means to him as a Christian.

Mark Tooley is IRD’s president and editor of IRD’s foreign policy and national security journal, Providence. Prior to joining the IRD in 1994, Mark worked eight years for the Central Intelligence Agency. He is a graduate of Georgetown University and is a native of Arlington, Virginia. He is the author of Taking Back The United Methodist Church, published in 2008; Methodism and Politics in the 20th Century, published in 2012; and The Peace That Almost Was: The Forgotten Story of the 1861 Washington Peace Conference and the Final Attempt to Avert the Civil War, published in 2015.

Nicholas Dujmovic directs the Catholic University of America’s program in intelligence studies. He served at the Central Intelligence Agency for 26 years and in the United States Coast Guard for 14 years. Currently, he teaches three courses in intelligence. At the CIA he analyzed the Soviet Union and East Europe, and was later a speechwriter for the director of central intelligence, editor of the President’s Daily Brief, and a manager of analysts working on Southeast Asia. He is a deacon of the Orthodox Church.
